The “jet black vessel of violence”

Maybe you didn’t know this, but the famed Nurburgring race track in Germany is open to the public. Not all the time, mind you, but occasionally a guy such as you or me can take our Ford Focus to the track and turn some laps.

Doing so is a dream for many of us. So imagine casually shooting the apexes, then looking in your rear-view mirror and seeing what Top Gear calls a “jet-black vessel of violence” quickly approaching. Anything’s possible on the ‘Ring!

That’s the kind of stuff that makes for great video, along with flying cars (a Subaru that’s supposed to and a Lamborghini that isn’t) and spy shots of an upcoming ultimate performance machine.

The “vessel of violence” mentioned above is the Aston Martin One-77. Here it is tearing up the ‘Ring and blasting past anything in its way:

Steve Saint is the head of I-TEC, a non-profit company that provides technology and training in remote areas of Ecuador. Needing a way to keep traveling when roads end in the Amazon, he built a flying car equipped with a 250-hp Subaru engine. His invention just received FAA Certification. Pretty impressive!

Take one 1,900-hp customized Lamborghini Gallardo, a 235-mph race run, a parachute, and combine with an unfortunate crosswind. Here is the result (amazingly, the driver walked away):
